Next Meeting

The next club meeting will be our annual Christmas party held on Monday Dec.3rd, 6:00PM at Nanny’s in Easley. As usual, this will involve a “yankee swap” gift exchange.

Highlights from last Meeting

·        Minutes were read and approved

·        Treasurer’s report was read and approved.

·        President’s Report

o       Joe said this has been his 7th year as president and we have been accident free. Our budget is in good shape.

o       Joe asked the club members to give a vote of thanks to Dave Thomas who authored the club article in the upcoming December AMA magazine.

·        Old Business

o       Power:. Underground cost is $5.00 per foot and total cost would be around $5000.00. He said we may be able to get it done cheaper if we run lines overhead and keep them on the left hand side of the driveway. We will also need to get a permit.

Water: He said the best option is to dig a well but we would need power to run the pump.

 Charlie will obtain written estimates for power and water and make a report to the club. at the next meeting.

·        Budget planning – Joe appointed Stan Scott and Ronnie Gossett to audit the books in January. Club President is ex-officio member of the audit committee.

·        New business

·        Return to monthly club meetings: The proposed By Law change to return to monthly meetings was approved.

·        James Littleton asked all the members to keep their e-mail addresses updated regularly with the club so they can continue to receive the Newsletter and other important e-mail regarding club events.

·        Charlie Davenport reported that he made an announcement on the helifreak website that there will be an unsanctioned AMA rules helifreak fly-in on

Editor Farewell

  For over 6 years now, I have enjoyed communicating to all of you via our Newsletter and other special announcements.  It’s time for someone else to take over this task,  so I regret to advise this will be my last Newsletter.  I will be happy to assist the new Editor as soon as he is appointed . Merry Christmas to you all and hope to see you at the field real soon.

·        December 29-30. There will be a $20.00 pilot fee. Motion and second was made to sponsor the fly-in. Motion carried.

·        Motion and second was made to change club meetings from the 1st Tuesday of each month to the 1st Monday of each month. Motion carried.

·        Tom Van asked for a clarification of the dues policy as written in the by-laws attachment A. Motion and second was made and motion carried to change A of the By Laws.

·        Motion was made and carried to change Attachment B regarding impoundment of radios.

·        We are ready to install the barriers. Charlie will provide the netting and Stan Scott will provide the PVC pipe.

·        Election of officers

·        Ballots were provided and results were tabulated. Officers for year 2008 are:

o       President – James Snuggs

o       Vice President – Charlie Davenport

o       Secretary – Open

o       Treasurer – Nelson Swords

 

By Law Changes

The regular meeting have been changed back to “monthly”

·        change to Attach A:

Current members in good standing may renew their membership without the initiation fee if dues are paid by March 1. Those who do not pay by March 1 shall be required to pay the Initiation Fee in addition to the current dues.

·        Change to Attach B

Flyer in possession of the frequency pin has the only legal transmitter on the field for that frequency.  All transmitters (except 2.4GHz spread spectrum type) shall be impounded upon arrival at the flying site and must display the proper frequency pin before removal.
